![]() This five-speed AMT prefers to upshift at around 2,000rpm where it feels right at home. At sedate throttle input, the gearshifts in the AMT induce no head nods and the jerks usually associated with an AMT are next to nothing. And I am happy to report that Hyundai has managed to tune the AMT superbly. You can have the 1.2-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine either with a five-speed manual or an AMT. Like everything else, even the powertrain in the Exter is the same as the Grand i10 Nios. ![]() And the segment-first features include six airbags as standard, which would coax buyers to consider the Exter over anything else at that price point. ![]() Hyundai has included regional languages for the interface and the driver’s display, which many buyers would appreciate. We could easily fit three cabin-sized bags with some room to spare. Now, you don't get split seats here, however, the boot space of 391-litre is deep and fairly usable. But seating three passengers here would be a tight affair. Spending more time in the back would make you realise how its large windows make for an airy cabin. More importantly, it would be one of those rare occasions when we aren't complaining about the under-thigh support, which is fantastic in the Exter. Once inside, you will see that the roof is prominently scooped off, so there's no complaint about headroom, even from taller passengers. Getting in the second row is nice and easy, thanks to the right seat height. Although the seats borrowed from the Nios lack prominent bolster and adjustable headrests, I found the seats to be fairly comfortable, offering good support in all the right places. Your shoulders don't rub with your passenger either, but it misses the driver’s armrest, which is needed to make the driving posture more ergonomic. Even the windows are quite large and the A-pillar isn't very thick, so the visibility all around is great. The view over the dash is commanding, which is further helped by the flat bonnet line. Since it's posing as an SUV, you do sit tall and upright in it. However, if I were to nit-pick, the steering wheel does not get brushed silver plastic, which feels so nice in the Nios. And of course, you get an all-digital driver’s display as standard, which isn’t offered in the Nios. This isn’t a bad thing as the all-black cabin feels spacious, and there’s no complaining about the fit and finish either. In India, the new Hyundai Exter compact SUV competes against the Citroen C3 and Tata Punch.īased on the Nios, the Exter’s dashboard has been entirely taken from the hatchback. What are the rivals to the Hyundai Exter? The Exter micro-SUV has not been tested by an NCAP body. You also get a CNG compatible version whose 1.2-litre engine produces 67bhp/95Nm and can only be had with a five-speed manual.Īll variant of the Hyundai Exter are fitted with six airbags, VSC and ABS with EBD. This motor can be had with a five-speed manual unit and a five-speed AMT unit. The Exter is powered by a 1.2-litre four-cylinder, NA Kappa petrol motor developing 82bhp and 114Nm of torque. What are the engine, performance, and specifications of the Hyundai Exter? It will have a seating capacity of five occupants. Inside, the model, positioned below the Venue, comes equipped with a dual-tone interior theme, brushed aluminium insert for the inner door handles, 50:50 split rear seats with headrests, and a small front armrest with cup holders below it. Some of the segment unique features include dashboard camera, rear AC vents and wireless charger. On the outside, the Exter gets split headlamps, a new grille, new front and rear bumpers, new alloy wheels, black roof rails, A-pillar-mounted ORVMs, blacked-out B-pillars, C-pillar-mounted rear door handles, a shark-fin antenna, and LED tail lights. What features are available in the Hyundai Exter? The Exter compact SUV is being offered in four variants, namely EX, S, SX and SX (O).

The HBO true crime documentary series Murder on Middle Beach has reached its conclusion, without any grand reveal regarding who killed Barbara Hamburg. APL implementations have appeared in the APL Quote-Quad since 1971, a year after the rules of the Game of Life were first published. Because it involves interactions between adjacent elements of the matrix, and can take advantage of APL's convenient and fast Boolean handling, implementing the Game of Life is a popular activity for APLers. The Game of Life is defined on an infinite Boolean grid, but usually only finite patterns, where all 1 values fit in a finite Boolean matrix, are studied. Conway's Game of Life is a well-known cellular automaton in which each generation of a population "evolves" from the previous one according to a set of predefined rules. The available navigation system is less expensive than those in most other cars, but the small display makes certain information hard to see.Īmple hiproom and headroom keep CX-7 passengers comfortable, even with all five seats occupied. Hard plastic surfaces are evident, but the attractive graining makes them less objectionable. Build quality and ergonomics are both very good, although some might find the radio controls a bit complicated compared to other vehicles. A sporty three-spoke steering wheel with audio controls is reminiscent of the one found in the Miata, while the gauge cluster is similar to the RX-8's. The CX-7's athletic styling carries over to the interior of the cabin, where the edgy yet functional design provides a more visually interesting environment than one might expect from a crossover SUV. Along with other top crossovers, the CX-5 is one you'll want to check out. ![]() It's worth noting, however, that Mazda will be replacing the CX-7 with the all-new 2013 CX-5, a crossover that keeps much of the 7's personality but with a fully modern design. Vehicles like the Kia Sportage and Volkswagen Tiguan are also fun to drive yet more efficient, while models like the Chevrolet Equinox and Subaru Forester are more versatile and practical. ![]() You can make calls and stream music from your smartphone through Bluetooth, but there's no factory-installed USB port.Ĭonsidering all this, we think most small crossover SUV shoppers will do better with one of the newer choices available. Sure, there's a navigation system available, but it has an unusually small screen and quirky interface. The materials used don't really impress, the features certainly need updating and the CX-7 lacks any of the newer SUV's more creative and accommodating seating solutions for the second row. Then there's the 2012 Mazda CX-7's interior which, while quite attractive, is starting to feel a little down-market. However, this comes at the expense of even worse fuel economy - the worst in its class, in fact. Upgrading to the far more powerful turbocharged engine leaves the four-cylinder competition in the dust and provides the CX-7 with the same acceleration as a V6. For these reasons, it's slow and not particularly fuel-efficient. A CX-7 with front-wheel drive weighs about the same as a Honda CR-V with all-wheel drive. The base engine is comparatively underpowered by today's standards, and the CX-7 itself is a little heavy, too. Where the CX-7 finds itself out of date is under the hood. It manages to find that fine line between sport and comfort often missed by others. Despite its road-holding prowess, the ride is quite good as well: controlled but never nervous and by no means numb or vague. Mazda has a reputation for building vehicles with this dynamic edge. Steering and handling are exceptionally good, and its track test numbers still hold up to those of more recently introduced compact SUVs. It's still pretty sporty looking and there's substance behind that sheet metal, as the CX-7 drives quite well. The 2012 Mazda CX-7 continues to have some nice attributes. This makes for fierce competition, which is why the Mazda CX-7, introduced five model years ago, is increasingly outclassed in most respects. By our count, there are close to 30 new vehicles available in this class. In case you hadn't noticed, the small crossover SUV segment is wildly popular. ![]() plastic – These come in MANY more colors!!!. ![]() But I just ordered some of the colored plastic tiles to try them out.
